Direct Support Professional - OMH - Full Time - Evenings
About The Position
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), enhance the quality of life of people with mental health needs by assisting, instructing, and supporting residents to be as independent as possible. Promote residents’ health, safety, and well-being while building positive, meaningful relationships. Advocate for residents so they can communicate their wants and needs and participate in community recreation. Help create a well-rounded living environment through light housekeeping, assistance with planning nutritious meals, and administering medications as needed. Participate in regularly scheduled trainings to develop the skills and knowledge needed to support residents. The position is full-time, non-exempt, in the Residential, OMH program and reports to the Residential Manager.
Requirements
- Ability to perform all job functions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Serve as a positive role model for people with disabilities and other staff.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid New York State driver’s license that meets the Agency’s driving policy.
