About The Position

Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island is seeking Direct Support Professionals to join their team in Rutland, MA. This human services agency focuses on helping children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders. The programs serve females aged 12-21 primarily with diagnoses of Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Disruptive Behavior Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and features of Borderline Personality Disorder. Individuals may have a range of cognitive functioning. All programs operate with a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) clinical model, emphasizing growth in interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness. Clients are encouraged to take an active role in their treatment and collaborate with clinicians to set and pursue meaningful goals. There are multiple 2nd and 3rd shift schedules available. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered, with an additional $250 bonus for MAP certified individuals.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to attend a 2-week paid orientation, Monday to Friday, 8AM to 4PM, in Rutland, MA.
  • Must be MAPS certified, or able to obtain certification within 6 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be passionate about working with and helping youth.
  • Be responsible for the safety and security of all youth as assigned by providing direct supervision.
  • Provide and ensure therapeutic interventions in a compassionate and safe environment.
  • Engage with youth in a meaningful and positive manner, teaching and prompting appropriate behaviors, and providing positive reinforcement for the same.
  • Teach and assist with Activities of Daily (ADL) Living Skills.
  • Possess adequate organizational and communication skills needed to complete required documentation, such as progress notes and incident reports.
