About The Position

Wellspring Lutheran Services is hiring a per-diem Direct Support Professional for Bethesda Homes in a residential setting. The role supports individuals in living meaningful, independent lives with dignity, choice, and the highest possible quality of life. The Direct Support Professional builds relationships with residents, learns their strengths and preferences, encourages independence, and helps them pursue personal goals and meaningful experiences. The position is part of residents’ daily routines and supports their participation in activities, relationships, and community life.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and auto insurance.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to support individuals with dignity and respect.
Commitment to learning and professional growth.
Patient, compassionate, and dependable.
Flexible and adaptable to individual needs.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Build meaningful relationships with individuals and learn their strengths, interests, preferences, and goals.
Encourage participation in daily activities and support independence and confidence in ways that honor each person's abilities and choices.
Assist with personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, appointments, and other daily routines while treating individuals with dignity and respect.
Support community outings, activities, hobbies, appointments, and social engagement.
Contribute to Individual Support Plans by sharing observations, celebrating achievements, and identifying opportunities for growth and success.
Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and healthy home environment.
Provide encouragement, hands-on support, and companionship to help individuals achieve personal goals and maintain independence.
