The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for the safety, supervision, and support of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in community-based residential settings. DSPs assist individuals with daily living activities, community participation, skill development, and personal goals identified in their Individual Support Plans (ISPs). This role requires a person-centered, trauma-informed approach that promotes dignity, independence, choice, and inclusion. The DSP works closely with supervisors, clinical staff, families, and community partners to ensure individuals receive the support necessary to thrive in their home and community environments.
