As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and behavioral health challenges. You will help individuals maximize their independence while promoting dignity, safety, wellness, inclusion, and personal choice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks and screenings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, email, and electronic documentation systems.
  • Ability to complete and maintain CPR, First Aid, and all required agency training certifications.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or in a human services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, trauma-informed, person-centered care and support.
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, shopping, and household maintenance.
  • Support individuals in achieving goals outlined in their Individual Service Plans (ISP) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP).
  • Promote independence, self-advocacy, and community inclusion.
  • Transport individuals to medical appointments, day programs, religious services, family visits, recreational activities, and community events.
  • Administer medications and assist with prescribed healthcare programs.
  • Implement behavioral support plans and habilitation programs.
  • Monitor for crisis situations and respond appropriately according to established procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.
  • Document services accurately, including daily logs, medication administration records, incident reports, goal tracking, and other required records.
  • Monitor consumer funds and maintain accurate financial documentation.
  • Participate in residential licensing activities and program inspections.
  • Attend required training programs, staff meetings, and competency-based training.
  • Collaborate with the Residential Manager, Lead DSP, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, or mistreatment in accordance with agency policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all assigned duties while maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
