About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides support and care to individuals living in Skill Creations, Inc. residential facilities. Support is tailored to individuals’ physical and medical, behavioral, cognitive, and independent-living needs. Duties include assisting with and providing education about personal care, administering medication, and supporting independent-living skills. DSPs also transport or accompany individuals to community activities and local or out-of-town appointments.

Full-time and part-time residential DSP positions begin at $17.60 per hour. Back-up and PRN positions pay $17.00 per hour. Full-time employees scheduled for at least 30 hours per week are offered health, dental, and life insurance, holiday pay, paid time off, and a 401(k). Requirements

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited school.
• Criminal record check.
• Prompt and regular attendance for the assigned work schedule.
• Work during inclement weather and some holidays.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Basic computer skills for email, electronic training modules, and recording data.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to balance, bend, stoop, and kneel occasionally.
• Ability to be on one's feet most of the time.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and care to individuals living in residential facilities, according to their physical and medical, behavioral, cognitive, and independent-living needs.
• Assist individuals with personal care and provide related education.
• Administer medication.
• Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent-living skills.
• Transport or accompany individuals to community activities and local or out-of-town appointments.
• Complete required coursework for CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
