About The Position
Citizens Acting Together Can Help, Inc. is seeking a Direct Service Professional (DSP) for the Intellectual Disabilities Department. This role involves providing direct support to program participants, assisting them with daily living activities, community exploration, and personal care. The DSP will also be responsible for documentation, implementing individual service plans, and assisting with staff training. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required for transporting participants.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Experience in a healthcare field
- Must be physically able to climb stairs
- Must be able to take public transportation
- Must be able to lift 100 pounds (2 person transfers)
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
Responsibilities
- Lift, carry, or transfer program participants with assistance (2 person transfers)
- Assist participants during lunch, including feeding those who require assistance
- Assist participants in the restroom according to their individual needs
- Assist participants to explore opportunities in the community to increase socialization, community involvement, and community safety awareness
- Enter progress notes daily on each participant worked with
- Provide physical assistance as needed during personal care, program activities, and community activities
- Implement activities identified in the ISP and by Program Director
- Accompany participants on accessible public transportation
- Complete 24 hours of training annually including CPR, First Aid, Everyday Lives, Individual Service Plans, and all trainings required by the 6100 regulations
- Follow all behavior plans as written
- Develop and implement program activities based on participants interests and abilities
- Assist and support all training of new staff members
- Role model appropriate social skills
- Develop professional rapport with all participants in program
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program manager
- Be able to drive participants to and from their destinations (must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record)
