About The Position

Direct Support Worker for Children and/or Adults with Developmental Disabilities. Requirements

  • 18+ years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of caregiving or related experience
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Smartphone required
  • Must be able to successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED (or willing to obtain)

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers a female DSP for Client 1 and Client 2.
  • Experience with children with autism for Client 1 and Client 2.
  • Patient and comfortable with assisting with toileting for Client 1 and Client 2.
  • Prefers a male DSP for Client 3.
  • Interested in playing sports with Client 3.
  • Assist during meals and engaging with Client 3.
  • Help after the bathroom with toileting, work on communication and socialization for Client 3.
  • Has a lot of energy and needs activities to keep him busy for Client 4.
  • Help with assisting in working on his speech and developmental needs for Client 4.
  • Needs support with regulating emotions and working towards using the toilet for Client 4.
  • A strong DSP who is a big kid at heart is a good match for Client 5.
  • Working on increasing his independence with toileting and hygiene after restroom use for Client 5.
  • Learning to communicate his needs and wants for Client 5.
  • Increasing his utensil skills during meal time for Client 5.
  • Working on walking up and down stairs independently for Client 5.
  • Learning to take his shoes off independently for Client 5.
  • Learning to hold his toothbrush and brush his teeth for Client 5.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily routines (cooking, cleaning, personal care with the client)
  • Help clients get into the community and stay engaged
  • Follow care plans and goals
  • Communicate with families and your team
  • Complete notes and documentation
  • Ensure safety and well-being at all times
