About The Position

People Creating Success (PCS) is hiring a Direct Support Professional to support adults with developmental disabilities in its supported living and independent living service programs across Ventura County and surrounding areas. The role focuses on empowering participants to live independently, pursue personal goals, and take part in community, educational, career, and social activities. Work is available in Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Conejo Valley, and surrounding areas. The position pays $20.60 per hour, with mileage reimbursement and a $10 monthly cell phone stipend. Afternoons are needed, and weekend availability is a plus but not required. Full- and part-time schedules are available. Health care benefits and paid time off are available upon transitioning to full-time employment.

Nice To Haves

• DSP 1 and 2 certification; applicants who are not certified may use internal certification programs.
• CPR and First Aid certification; training will be provided to applicants who are not certified or need recertification.

Responsibilities

• Assist participants with living independently.
• Support participants with daily living skills, including cleaning, cooking, budget management, and light household duties.
• Assist participants with travel to doctors’ appointments.
• Follow care plans and help participants achieve personal goals.
• Encourage healthy habits, studies, hobbies, and social activities.
• Assist with personal care, including medication support, hygiene, and bathing; lifting or transferring may be required.
• Collaborate on person-centered care planning with participants, staff, and management.
• Document shift and communication logs, including accurate and detailed progress notes.
• Support individuals through heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, and sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.
• Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
