About The Position
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) ensures the health and safety of residents by providing support identified in their Individual Support Plans and collecting data and documenting the supports provided. DSPs assist adults with developmental disabilities in daily life activities across routine and dynamic environments. The role is suited to dependable, compassionate people interested in human services and supporting Cornerstone Support Services’ mission. Cornerstone Support Services is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) provider of support services for adults with developmental disabilities, licensed by Virginia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. The organization aims to provide a safe and healthy support structure that empowers people to live self-directed lives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Compassion for the care and well-being of others.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and guidance to residents during skill-building activities.
- Implement individual support plans for residents.
- Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation and personal hygiene.
- Develop rapport with residents and cultivate safe, supportive relationships.
- Update resident case notes daily.
- Ensure an appropriate staff-to-client ratio at all times.
- Collect data and document the provision of supports.
