About The Position
Indera is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist a 38-year-old female in the Fairmount area of Syracuse, NY. The individual is looking for support with money management, engaging in community activities, and pursuing her interests. Her hobbies include journaling, visiting Dunkin Doughnuts, assisting with computer issues, and enjoying cartoons, comedy shows, and basketball. She is also a fan of Justin Bieber. The role involves supporting her in developing a spending plan, prioritizing expenses, and exploring activities that align with her preferences and promote positive community involvement. This is a part-time position with potential for additional hours supporting other individuals served by the agency.
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Effective communication and organizational skills required.
- Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
- Reliable transportation to arrive at the job site at the scheduled time.
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera's technology policy.
- Willingness to work with verbally aggressive individuals.
- Ability to consistently provide verbal encouragement.
- Patience and ability to speak clearly and at a measured pace.

- Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with money management, including creating a spending plan and prioritizing essential expenses.
- Encourage the individual to save money and prioritize essential expenses over non-essential purchases.
- Facilitate community involvement and exploration of activities based on her interests and preferences.
- Provide guidance on budgeting and financial planning.
- Offer verbal encouragement and support, especially when dealing with verbal aggression.
- Assist with computer-related tasks if needed.
- Support the individual in choosing and engaging in activities she enjoys.
