About The Position

People Creating Success (PCS) is hiring a Direct Support Professional / Personal Attendant in Santa Barbara and Goleta to support adults with developmental disabilities through its supported living and independent living service programs. The role focuses on building genuine relationships, empowering participants, supporting independence, and helping them pursue personal interests and community involvement.

The position pays $20.25 per hour and offers part-time and full-time schedules, with flexible morning, evening, and overnight shifts. Mileage reimbursement and a $10 monthly cell phone stipend are offered. Health care benefits and paid time off are available to employees who transition to full-time employment. Requirements

• A compassionate, person-centered mindset.
• Ability to communicate with dignity and respect, including during challenging moments.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Responsible approach and ability to assist with tracking progress toward goals.

Nice To Haves

• Weekend availability is a plus but is not required.
• CPR and First Aid certification; training or recertification will be provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Support participants with daily living skills, including cleaning, cooking, and budgeting.
• Encourage and model independence, hobbies, and social activities.
• Help participants access and take part in community activities.
• Assist with personal care, including medication support, hygiene, and bathing; lifting or transferring may be required.
• Collaborate with participants on person-centered care planning.
• Record progress toward care-plan goals.
• Support individuals experiencing heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, and sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.
• Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
