About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides supervision, safety, and direct support to individuals in community-based residential settings. DSPs help individuals develop healthy, socially appropriate behaviors while working toward personal and clinical goals. This role collaborates closely with clinical and program staff to implement individualized support plans and residential interventions. DSPs assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), promote independence, and encourage meaningful participation in home and community life. A strong commitment to person-centered care and the organization's values is essential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience required.
  • Ability to safely transport individuals in the community.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email and electronic documentation systems.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required employment screenings and clearances, including: Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance (if applicable).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in human services, behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and support in accordance with each individual's Person-Centered Support Plan.
  • Implement residential interventions and assist individuals in achieving clinical goals and objectives.
  • Support or assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Personal hygiene, Dressing, Toileting, Meal preparation, Household tasks.
  • Administer medications in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Provide transportation to medical appointments, community activities, and other program-related destinations.
  • Promote community integration by supporting access to: Healthcare services, Social services, Recreational and social opportunities.
  • Encourage independence, skill development, and positive social behaviors.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Communicate changes in an individual's status, behavior, or needs to supervisors and clinical staff.
  • Participate in required training sessions, team meetings, and collaborative planning activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
