Personal Supports Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Part Time
About The Position
The Arc Carroll County is hiring compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one personal supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is a part-time evening position with flexible hours, including some daytime availability on Thursdays and Saturdays. The role involves providing community-based or in-home support, transportation, and facilitating engaging activities tailored to individual interests and goals. DSPs will encourage independence, assist with personal care and mobility, document services, and adhere to person-centered plans and regulations.
Requirements
- 18+ years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid U.S. driver’s license that has never been suspended or revoked
- Ability to pass background, drug, and driving record checks
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills
- Ability to complete required training courses, including CPR, First Aid, Med Tech Certification, and other DDA-mandated training
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one community-based or in-home support
- Provide transportation and support community access
- Create and implement innovative, fun, and meaningful activities tailored to each individual’s interests, goals, and abilities
- Support individuals individually and independently, encouraging choice, creativity, and self-direction through social, recreational, and educational activities
- Encourage independence and decision-making
- Assist with personal care and mobility as needed
- Document services and progress in iCare
- Follow person-centered plans, policies, and state regulations
