About The Position

Carey Services is seeking a passionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join their team in Upland, IN. This role involves supporting individuals with diverse abilities, fostering independence, and promoting a fulfilling life. Requirements

  • Must have a love for people and desire to help them.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess adequate automobile insurance.
  • Must meet agency insurability requirements.
  • Must be able to learn basic principles of teaching (instruction provided).
  • Must have good basic mathematical computation skills.
  • Must have good English Language writing skills.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop or stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to assist in lifting or transferring individuals to and from wheelchairs.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoes, ear plugs, etc.
  • Must be able to follow all required safe and universal precaution practices during a pandemic and as required otherwise.
  • Must know first aid, health & safety measures or build an acceptable competence level by post-hire training.

  • Responding appropriately to behavioral or medical needs
  • Providing direct support, instruction, and assistance to persons with disabilities (I/DD) living in the community.
  • Ensuring health and safety, community inclusion, and daily living skills for individuals served.
