About The Position

This position is located in VALLEYVIEW, OHIO. Safe and Secure Healthcare is a home care agency dedicated to providing a wide range of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for those we serve by offering compassionate, high-quality care. We are seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide individualized support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The DSP will assist in health and hygiene, community integration, mobility, communication, socialization, and overall quality of life. This role emphasizes promoting independence, safety, and engagement while helping individuals achieve their personal goals. Please note that all candidates must have a reliable vehicle, as there is no public transportation available in the area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting individuals with disabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Medication Certificate (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
  • Physically able to lift, assist with mobility, and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Reliable vehicle required as there is no public transportation available in the area.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in direct care preferred but not required; paid training is provided.
  • Direct Support Professional : 1 year (Preferred)
  • Medication Administration Category 3 (Med Cert 3) (Preferred)
  • Medication Administration Certification 2 (Med Cert 2) (Preferred)
  • Night Shift (Preferred)
  • Day Shift (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with hygiene, grooming, dressing, eating, and mobility.
  • Support meal preparation, light housekeeping, and daily living tasks.
  • Help individuals achieve personal goals outlined in their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
  • Encourage community involvement and socialization.
  • Monitor health, assist with medical appointments, and administer medications as trained.
  • Implement positive reinforcement and behavioral strategies.
  • Maintain daily logs, progress notes, and incident reports.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately in urgent situations.
