This role is responsible for assisting individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities, upholding their personal rights, and providing emotional support. The Direct Support Professional engages individuals in respectful communication, encourages socialization, and facilitates community connections. Key responsibilities include ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals, managing crisis situations, and adhering to all applicable policies and procedures. The position involves supporting individuals in various settings according to their individualized service and behavior support plans, utilizing core competencies, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment. This role also includes assisting with personal care, medication administration, teaching skills, supporting advocacy, facilitating communication, preparing meals, and transporting individuals. The Direct Support Professional will develop an understanding of specialized clinical knowledge, implement Behavior Support Plans, collect and record data, and collaborate with a team to ensure quality care. Documentation and compliance with regulations such as HIPAA are also critical aspects of this position.
