Direct Support Professional (DSP) Special Needs
About The Position
Make a lasting impact every day as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with BAYADA Home Health Care. As a DSP, you'll support individuals in their homes and communities by assisting with daily activities, fostering social connections, and encouraging participation in meaningful experiences that promote independence and inclusion. Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Passion for supporting individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Patience, empathy, and reliability
- Ability to read and write in English
- Reliable transportation and ability to transport clients to community activities
Responsibilities
- Build meaningful, long-term relationships through one-on-one support.
- Participate in clients’ favorite activities and community events, including programs such as Special Olympics.
- Assist individuals in developing independence and achieving personal goals, such as budgeting, shopping, socializing, using public transportation, and maintaining an active lifestyle.
- Provide support with dignity, respect, and person-centered care.
- Promote client safety and well-being at home and in the community.
- Help create enjoyable and enriching experiences that support inclusion and quality of life.
