About The Position

Direct Care Residential Support Staff support residents by building authentic, professional relationships and helping restore a sense of engagement, productivity, and contribution. Staff help maintain a safe and supportive environment through planned activities, supportive check-ins, and additional coverage as needed. The position is PRN, with schedules based on departmental needs and approximately three shifts per month. Staff must be able to cover day, evening, and night shifts, including weekend morning shifts. The role is based in Asheville, North Carolina. CooperRiis is a therapeutic healing community and a smoke-, drug-, and alcohol-free facility. The stated pay is $19.00 per hour, with increases based on experience.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience working with individuals whose lives are impeded by mental illness.
Be at least 21 years old.
Have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record to be covered by the organization’s auto insurance.
Be able to cover day, evening, and night shifts, including weekend morning shifts.

Responsibilities

Provide relationship-oriented coaching and support to residents as they work toward their goals.
Help ensure residents’ health and safety, respond immediately to concerns, and complete check-ins.
Participate in and encourage residents’ participation in recreational, social, and cultural activities.
Facilitate spontaneous social experiences for residents who are not participating in scheduled activities.
Support residents with room cleaning and help clean common areas of the building.
Transport residents to scheduled appointments as needed.
Serve as a first responder for on-call services during evening hours.
Complete documentation for assigned residents.
