About The Position

Motive International is seeking a Diplomacy/Foreign Affairs Expert/Exercise Designer to support the U.S. Army’s Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). This role involves designing and executing large-scale military exercises, specifically focusing on the Unified Action Partner (UAP) cell. The UAP cell is an embedded team of interagency subject matter experts (SMEs) responsible for designing the civil domain elements of exercise scenarios to ensure a complex, realistic training environment. SMEs will support full exercise lifecycle design and planning tasks on-site at MCTP HQ at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and travel to exercise locations within CONUS and OCONUS. This is a full-time, permanent position requiring in-person work at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen
  • Minimum SECRET security clearance
  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in a relevant SME domain (Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, or Humanitarian Affairs)
  • Overseas professional experience in a complex crisis or contingency environment
  • Willingness to reside permanently in the Ft. Leavenworth, KS, area
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, including to OCONUS locations
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Solid understanding of the military/civil-military operations
  • Familiarity with military exercise lifecycle/exercise design or planning experience
  • Prior service in/around the State Department (for Foreign Affairs domain)
  • Prior service in/around official development assistance agencies such as USAID or the State Department, INGOs, Red Cross, or UN agencies (for Humanitarian Affairs domain)
  • Prior service in/around CIA, NSA, other IC agencies (for Intelligence domain)

Responsibilities

  • Design civil domain elements of exercise scenarios.
  • Support full exercise lifecycle design and planning tasks.
  • Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations where exercises are held.
  • Collaborate with interagency subject matter experts.
