About The Position

Kendal at Oberlin is a full-service life plan community, which primarily serves older adults in the Quaker tradition. Residents are assured a lifetime of healthcare including short- and long-term nursing services, memory care and assisted living. Equally important, residents enjoy an independent, enriching living experience. Kendal at Oberlin's Dining Services is seeking a dynamic and detail oriented Dining Room Manager for a full-time, 11:30am-8:00pm with rotating weekends and holidays. This full time exempt manager will be an innovative, strong leader who consistently demonstrates professionalism and customer service and takes appropriate action in the organizations best interest. The Dining Room Manager assures excellent dining room operations to residents with attentive, efficient waitstaff.

Requirements

  • Presents professional appearance and works a flexible schedule, 45-55 hours per week
  • Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills and good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess ServSafe Certificate or achieve within 90 days of hire
  • Must have supervisory experience in dining services
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years' front of house operations including: tray service, table setting, customer relations, POS systems, sanitation and training
  • Knows state and federal guidelines for skilled and assisted living levels of care
  • Must be able to lift weights of up to 25 pounds
  • Stands and/or walks a minimum of 75% of the day

Responsibilities

  • Sustaining positive resident relations
  • Manages staffing and other expenses
  • Planning and organizing for the best potential dining operations
  • Ensuring cleanliness and sanitation of all food handling and dining rooms according to ServSafe standards
  • Planning and organizing optimal dining operations with effective scheduling
  • Fostering a high level of teamwork with staff through effective communication and consistent/fair scheduling practices via dining room supervisors
  • Developing and maintaining positive rapport with residents and staff with high visibility in all dining areas
  • Initiating, coordinating and reinforcing service and food standards and procedures
  • Conduct training programs to Waitstaff
  • Implementing standards for the hiring, orientation and training of the best staff
