About The Position

The Dining Attendant, under the direction and supervision of the Culinary Services Supervisor, is responsible for keeping kitchen and equipment clean, serving meals and delivery according to established procedures. All work is performed collaboratively with and in support of other services offered by St. Joseph's Villa. All work is performed within a systems-based framework and a psycho-educational model. Work is performed collaboratively with and in support of other services offered by St. Joseph's Villa. Work is performed safely, effectively, to the highest ethical standards, and in accordance with St. Joseph’s Villa’s mission, values, and guiding principles.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation techniques.
  • Able to safely operate all kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of Dept. of Health regulations governing personal hygiene and kitchen sanitation.
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license with excellent driving record.
  • High school diploma
  • Ability to read and write at level to perform assigned tasks
  • One year of experience working in a food service environment and special students.

Nice To Haves

  • Some knowledge of nutritional standards and USDA requirements preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve clients, staff, or guests as directed by Supervisor and menu.
  • Wash dishes and pots & pans as needed.
  • Cleans floors, cleans tables, chairs, sinks and other furniture and equipment; empties trash; replaces light bulbs; or performs other cleaning tasks as needed to ensure a sanitary environment.
  • Clean as you go and maintain the kitchen area and equipment in a sanitary manner.
  • Complies with all health regulations, USDA requirements, OSHA standards, and St. Joseph’s Villa’s policies in the preparation, serving, and disposal of food.
  • Transport food safely to other locations (when applicable) on campus using assigned vehicle. Collects and cleans food containers after meals. Will set up and clean steam tables.
  • Reports any malfunction with kitchen equipment and vehicles to Culinary Services Supervisor or his/her designee.
  • Serve clients, staff, or guests as directed in each dining area.
  • Instill teamwork throughout the workforce in the approach to accomplishing daily assignments and in working with staff throughout the Villa.
  • Evaluates work processes and methods and submits recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
  • Attends scheduled training programs for professional development that includes, at a minimum, trainings required by St. Joseph’s Villa and by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
