About The Position

The Dining Assistant/Waiter serves elders and guests, takes meal orders, and cleans tables after meals. The role prepares and serves meals for the dietary department in a safe and appetizing manner while following dietary standards, policies, and procedures. It also involves cleaning the kitchen, washing dishes, and returning food to proper storage. The Dining Services Assistant/Server provides excellent customer service, works as part of a team, follows food safety and sanitation procedures, and ensures appropriate snacks are available for elders with special dietary needs.

Requirements

• Kindness and a desire to work with elderly people; enjoy working with people generally.
• Willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers who only speak English.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to perform job responsibilities with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Serve elders and guests and take meal orders.
• Clean tables after meals.
• Prepare and serve meals safely and appetizingly in compliance with dietary standards, policies, and procedures.
• Clean the kitchen, wash dishes, and return food to proper storage.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Follow procedures for infection control, food-borne illness prevention, harmful chemical handling, fire safety, and sanitation.
• Ensure appropriate snacks are available to elders with special dietary needs.
• Work within a team environment.
