This role is generally responsible for performing field surveys and laser scans, and preparing drawings for the design and construction of industrial facilities, as well as construction staking in an industrial environment. The position involves facilitating the completion of assigned projects and tasks by providing leadership, direction, training, and mentoring to junior staff. Work is performed under general supervision, and short-term travel may be required. The primary responsibilities include completing projects safely, within required accuracy and timeframe, and coordinating with survey and design teams to ensure clear scope and met deliverable expectations. The role may involve functioning as a lead or technical consultant, coordinating findings with engineering teammates, clients, and others, and supervising/assisting Survey Technicians in data processing, 3-D model preparation, survey/plat preparation, and revisions. Responsibilities also include calculating heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain and industrial facilities, adhering to surveying standards of practice, conducting surveys for property boundaries, establishing construction control points, preparing sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions, recording survey results, and searching legal records for property boundary information. The role requires verifying survey data accuracy, acting as a primary client contact for surveying aspects, reviewing and approving technical approaches and work products, coordinating with government agencies, performing QA/QC and final reviews, participating in staff training programs, supervising client and agency communication, reacting productively to change, estimating and scheduling professional service hours, and assisting with project coordination/resource allocation.
