About The Position

Barron Industries, a leader in aerospace and defense manufacturing since 1983, is seeking an experienced Dimensional Inspector to join our team in Oxford, MI. This role is responsible for performing dimensional inspections of production castings and first article parts to ensure conformance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality requirements. The inspector will operate CMM equipment and precision measuring instruments while maintaining accurate inspection records.

Requirements

  • CMM operation experience required
  • 2 years of dimensional inspection experience preferred.
  • Experience with PC-DMIS CMM software preferred.
  • Experience with Polyworks or Geomagic Control X software preferred.
  • Experience using a Faro Arm or Keyence 3d scanners preferred.
  • Experience with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of geometry and trigonometry.
  • Aerospace or ISO/Quality System experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to use a computer and standard Microsoft Office software, including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods in an office/industrial environment
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform job functions
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • May be exposed to moving machinery, sharp metal chips, coolants, industrial chemicals, noise, and heavy materials
  • Cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, and files
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone

Nice To Haves

  • CMM programming experience preferred
  • Aerospace or ISO/Quality System experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CMM to inspect parts and generate reports
  • Use manual measuring instruments to inspect parts
  • Assist in sample submissions, including First Articles deviation/waivers
  • Perform dock audits and floor inspections
  • Maintain calibration of all measuring equipment
  • Understand, follow AS9100 systems and procedures as appropriate to your department and/or area of responsibility.
  • Initiate and participate in continuous improvement using AVO’s, CAR’s, and ECR’s. brainstorming sessions, training, continuing education.
