About The Position

The Acacia Infrastructure and Service Operations team is a collaborative, hands-on group that functions as a business-aligned digital technology partner for Cisco’s high-speed optical networking division. We provide the resilient technology foundation—spanning servers, storage, and networking—that powers engineering, manufacturing, and global supply chain operations. Our team’s vibe is defined by high accountability and cross-functional ownership; we jump into complex problems and drive them to resolution without needing hand-holding. It is an exciting time to join us as we evolve our infrastructure and shift from traditional support to proactive digital enablement. As a Digital Solutions and Platform Engineer, you will own the operational reliability of the platforms supporting Acacia’s engineering and business workflows. You will strengthen our infrastructure foundation by diagnosing complex issues, automating repeatable tasks, and reducing technical debt to ensure consistent performance as our environment scales. By balancing hands-on engineering with architectural thinking, you will transform recurring incidents into lasting improvements and establish your credibility through faster response times and stable, supportable systems. Your success will be measured by your ability to increase operational capacity, decrease repeat problems, and deliver technology-enabled improvements that empower the entire organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with five or more years of hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise infrastructure (virtualization, servers, storage, networking, or backup/recovery).
  • Demonstrated experience independently diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues that span multiple domains (e.g., identity, applications, and networks).
  • Proven ability to automate infrastructure or operational tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash) and configuration-management tools.
  • Professional experience in designing and implementing technical improvements, such as platform upgrades or workflow integrations, rather than performing only standard maintenance.
  • Ability to work from the Massachusetts office at least three days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting technically demanding environments such as engineering, lab, test, manufacturing, or supply chain.
  • Experience conducting stakeholder interviews, mapping business workflows, and translating requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) and public/hybrid-cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with architecture or service-management frameworks such as ITIL, TOGAF, or BABOK.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled tools, operational dashboards, observability platforms, or disaster recovery planning.
  • Relevant professional certifications in cloud, automation, or systems architecture.
