About The Position

The Digital Services Librarian/Instructor oversees digital initiatives, including emerging technologies and digitization efforts, while providing reference instruction and liaison services to support the academic mission of the university community.

Requirements

  • Master's of Library Science from an ALA accredited program
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred
  • Experience with academic library digital humanities preferred
  • Strong knowledge of principles and practices of academic librarianship
  • Proficient in managing audiovisual equipment
  • Experience with digitization initiatives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective instruction and reference services
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and library software applications
  • Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example
  • Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous manner

Responsibilities

  • Provides support, consultation, and training to faculty and students regarding digital tools/platforms to enhance engagement in research, teaching, and learning.
  • Investigates, evaluates, and implements new technology resources and tools for use in teaching integrations and research applications.
  • Responsible for all aspects of digitization initiatives, including functionality, accessibility, and budgetary considerations of repositories, equipment, and supplies.
  • Leads library digital humanities initiatives while overseeing the operations of the Digital Humanities Lab, recording space, and Special Collections and Archives.
  • Creates and maintains LibWizard forms for department operations.
  • Provides instruction on library use and research skills in classroom, online, and reference desk settings.
  • Serves as liaison to academic departments for research and collection development.
  • Collaborates with faculty on information literacy curriculum development and special projects.
  • Participates in university and library committee work.
  • Maintains current knowledge of emerging trends and best practices through professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
