The Connecticut State Library (CSL) is seeking a Digital Collections Librarian (Librarian 1 - State Library) to join the Digitization and Digital Collections Services Unit (DDCS) in Hartford, CT. This role is crucial for preserving and providing access to the agency’s significant historic and cultural resources. As online access demands grow, this position will support the expansion of digitization and digital collections initiatives, contributing to the long-term preservation of cultural resources and enhancing public access to information. The Digital Collections Librarian will work under the direction of the Unit Head, managing CSL materials in digital collections systems. Responsibilities include creating metadata records following institutional guidelines and standards (like MODS), ingesting digitized materials, coordinating with other units for discoverability, participating in metadata cleanup and normalization, promoting DDCS work through web content and research guides, maintaining unit policies and workflows, and optimizing workflows with digital tools. The ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail, be able to work independently, possess familiarity with digitization workflows, be adaptable to new technology, and have strong communication skills.
