About The Position

Townsquare Media Group is seeking a dynamic Digital & Radio Content Leader for their KIT station. This full-time, in-office role requires a visionary leader passionate about building brands, growing audiences, and developing talent. The ideal candidate will thrive at the intersection of on-air creativity, digital storytelling, and team leadership, with experience in both radio and digital content. This 360-degree creator will entertain, inform, and inspire across radio, digital, social, and live events, while driving audience growth and revenue. The position reports to the Director of Content and involves full brand ownership of one station, including on-air performance and digital content creation. Townsquare Media is a digital-first media company focused on serving small and mid-sized markets across the U.S., combining local media power with digital solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-time radio experience
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with a track record of building successful brands or teams
  • Proven, measurable success in audience growth and digital content performance
  • Understanding of digital content strategy, SEO best practices, and what drives audience engagement across web and social platforms
  • Passion for community journalism with strong news judgment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong understanding of FCC rules and regulations
  • Excellent writing, reporting, verbal communication, and public speaking skills
  • Multimedia content experience is highly valued
  • Comfort interacting with listeners, clients, and community partners in public settings
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure
  • Technical proficiency operating control boards, remote broadcast equipment, and related production tools
  • High School Diploma (required)
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and vehicle (required)

Responsibilities

  • Drive the vision, performance, and growth of the KIT brand across on-air, digital, social, and live experiences.
  • Provide vision, leadership, and day-to-day management for the station brand.
  • Host “Good Morning Yakima” weekdays from 6am–9am, delivering an engaging, entertaining on-air experience and overseeing daily programming.
  • Write and publish 1–3 original articles per weekday air shift, including breaking news, police and fire coverage, business news, feature stories, curated content, and audience-focused digital pieces.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Content on initiatives to elevate brand quality, programming, and events.
  • Partner with the Market President and leadership team to build and maintain a positive, professional, high-performing culture.
  • Conduct regular strategy and coaching sessions with air talent, along with brainstorming sessions involving programming, leadership, and sales teams.
  • Work closely with sales leadership to generate revenue through programming, features, promotions, endorsements, digital platforms, and events.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top on-air and digital talent.
  • Engage audiences daily across the station website, mobile app, and social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram) through compelling content and social copy.
  • Develop and integrate digital and social content strategies into on-air programming using news value, audience demand, and search data.
  • Represent the station at live events, promotions, and partner appearances.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across departments and with key stakeholders.
  • Drive measurable audience growth across on-air and digital platforms, evaluated through ratings, streaming performance, digital traffic, and engagement.
  • Create and publish original video content regularly, including social-first short-form video and longer-form segments.
  • Prospect and develop endorsement and influencer partnerships with local businesses.
  • Participate in high-visibility community events, client meetings, and business functions as a station ambassador.
