About The Position

The Digital Product Owner owns and prioritizes the product backlog to maximize business value by translating business needs into clear, actionable user stories with defined acceptance criteria and testing. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective delivery, drives Agile execution, manages priorities and risks, presents product demos to stakeholders, and ensures release readiness and seamless delivery. This role serves as a key contributor responsible for supporting dealer roadmaps, defining business requirements, and building business cases to support product strategy.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-7 years progressive experience in a business strategy or digital product management role with exposure to a dealer/customer facing environment and/or back-office operations.
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments with ownership in backlog management, requirements gathering, user story development, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative, accountability, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound business judgment and understanding of strategic priorities, with the ability to deliver results in changing environments.
  • Experience in product management, including backlog management, user story development, acceptance criteria, and support across the product lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems, business process management, digital workflows, and automation.
  • Ability to make informed decisions, recommend process improvements, and support change initiatives.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority to drive aligned product outcomes.
  • Experience managing end-to-end product delivery, balancing scope, quality, timelines, and customer value.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across business and technology teams and present effectively to stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Familiarity with personas, customer journey mapping, and data-driven analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present effectively to senior management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and vendor relationships simultaneously, with strong process discipline.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, vendor interactions, research, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in business and presentation tools such as PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, Access, and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in leading implementation, testing, release activities, or process improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Automotive or financial services industries preferred.
  • Experience with dealer, sales enablement, or commercial portals preferred.
  • MBA a plus.
  • SAFe Agile and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Salesforce certifications are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of system architecture, integrations, and related technical concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders and end users to gather requirements and convert them into actionable user stories and supporting artifacts (journey maps, process flows, wireframes).
  • Lead story elaboration and provide clarifications to delivery teams throughout the sprint/release lifecycle.
  • Ensure requirements comply with relevant security, privacy, regulatory, accessibility, and audit standards (as applicable).
  • Own and continuously refine the product backlog, ensuring items are clear, valuable, and ordered to maximize business impact.
  • Prioritize features, enhancements, technical improvements, and defects using value, risk, dependencies, effort, and time sensitivity.
  • Ensure backlog readiness by maintaining well-defined epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and Definition of Ready/Done.
  • Serve as the primary product liaison across business, technology, operations, compliance, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Facilitate alignment by setting expectations, negotiating scope, and managing competing priorities across stakeholder groups.
  • Conduct regular stakeholder reviews/demos, gather feedback, and incorporate insights into roadmap/backlog decisions.
  • Work closely with Scrum Master and cross-functional teams to ensure successful sprint planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Ensure alignment on technical direction, integration needs, and non-functional requirements (performance, reliability, scalability).
  • Participate in or lead key Agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, review, retrospective) to keep delivery focused on outcomes.
  • Help remove ambiguity by making timely product decisions within assigned scope, sequencing, acceptance, and release readiness.
  • Coordinate release planning with IT, QA, DevOps, operations, training, and support teams.
  • Ensure completion of released documentation, communications, training materials, and change management plans.
  • Validate product readiness through UAT, signoffs, and operational preparedness.
  • Track and monitor product success metrics (adoption, conversion, cycle time, NPS/DSS/CSAT, cost-to-serve, defect trends) and use insights to support prioritization and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate product progress, performance, and risks to stakeholders with clear updates.
  • Collaborate with architects, IT leads, UX, data, security, and platform teams to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with product strategy.
  • Identify, manage, and communicate cross-team and cross-platform dependencies, proactively mitigating delivery risks and bottlenecks.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners, ensuring alignment with product vision, scope, timelines, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and partners to support delivery commitments, integration requirements, and performance expectations in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Support product and business leaders by contributing product insight and business domain knowledge to the execution of the digital and technology vision and roadmap for HCA’s digital channels.
  • Support the translation of strategic objectives into aligned goals, outcomes, and feature priorities to help improve dealer and customer experiences.
