About The Position

The School of Art at Carnegie Mellon University is searching for a part-time (20 hours a week/ 600 hours over the academic year) Digital Print Studio Intern. This entry-level position is ideal for someone familiar with print media and large-format printing who can assist the current technician and help serve the larger School of Art community.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Art (BFA or BXA)
  • Experience with Print Media preferred
  • Experience with large format printing preferred
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with supervision and administration of the Digital Print Studio
  • Process large format print requests for School of Art students, faculty and staff
  • Process vinyl cutter requests for School of Art students, faculty and staff
  • Troubleshoot and communicate with students regarding incoming print requests to ensure quality output
  • Help operate and maintain equipment and facilities housed within the Digital Print Studio, which include: large format inkjet printers, large format vinyl cutter, large format scanners, black dye acetate printer, Risograph printer, iMac computer lab and CINTIQs
  • Assist as needed in the traditional printmaking studios
  • Help with training, overseeing and enforcement of safety rules and regulations, according to Environmental Health and Safety guidelines
  • Assist students, faculty and staff with the proper and safe use of studio and equipment
  • Report supplies needs to Print Technician
  • Process financial transactions (accounting)
  • Assist with various School of Art projects
  • Support Doherty Hall technicians in research and development
