Digital Media Specialist

SubstanceMontreal, QC
Onsite

About The Position

As part of Group 219 — the collaborative network behind Church+State and Substance — the Digital Media Specialist is a hybrid media and project management role based in the C+S Toronto office. You will support the Substance Montreal media team in executing end-to-end digital and 360° campaigns for English-market clients, while serving as the primary Toronto point of contact. You’re equally comfortable building a media strategy as you are owning a client relationship, managing a budget, or walking into a pitch room. You’re responsive, organized, and a productive, positive member of the team. You don’t take yourself too seriously and you love to work hard and have fun.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in media planning, buying, or digital and 360° campaign management.
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with rigour and attention to detail.
  • Natural communicator and relationship builder — clients trust you, and colleagues want to work with you.
  • Hands-on expertise across media platforms such as Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, DV360, and others — if you know some and are eager to learn the rest, we’re good with that.
  • Strong command of campaign KPIs, attribution models, and performance reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingualism (EN/FR) is an asset, though not a requirement, given our broader Groupe 219 environment.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships grounded in trust, transparency, and proactive communication.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may arise during the course of a mandate, bringing creative solutions to the table.
  • Rigorously manage budgets and timelines across numerous concurrent campaigns while meeting all deadlines.
  • Produce and maintain project documentation including briefs, estimates, workbacks, status reports, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure quality control at every stage of approval and production, from brief to campaign close-out.
  • Contribute to new business pitches by developing media strategies, preparing decks, and presenting recommendations to prospects.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with strategy, creative, and account teams to deliver compelling, integrated proposals.
  • Develop data-informed media strategies and channel plans tailored to each client’s objectives and audience.
  • Translate strategy into clear, actionable media plans with defined KPIs, budget allocation, and measurement frameworks.
  • Support the Substance Montreal media specialist team in the end-to-end execution of digital and 360° paid media campaigns (Search, Social, Programmatic, OOH, traditional) for English-market clients.
  • Manage campaign setup, trafficking, optimization, and reporting across platforms including Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, DV360, and others.
  • Stay on top of platform updates, industry trends, and new technologies to continuously improve campaign performance.
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with English-market media partners across Canada, ensuring strong collaboration and added value for clients.
