The Digital Literacy Instructor will increase digital skills of BPL users, especially to access information and services online. This role involves developing quality interactive training on basic and more advanced digital tools and software programs, creating curriculum, delivering workshops, and gathering feedback. The instructor will also manage regular drop-in practice labs to facilitate hands-on learning and address specific tech questions, administer access to BPL’s online digital skills platforms, and create handouts and user guides in print and on BPL’s website. Additionally, the role focuses on developing innovative ways to introduce jobseekers to computer basics, including computer typing, email, and internet searching, to enable them to create and store documents such as resumes and complete online applications. Collaboration with BPL’s team of Technical Resource Specialists to build on existing training modules and share best practices is expected. The instructor will be knowledgeable of and promote the use of BPL Online Resources as useful tools and sources of information, and provide assistance at the customer service desk as needed. A key aspect of the role is regularly evaluating the technology needs of those looking for work, conducting business, filling out forms and applications, doing research or needing tech assistance to advance their financial wellbeing and creating customer-focused responses to assist them and enhance their digital literacy.
