Digital Hardware Design Engineer 1 (Onsite)
About The Position
RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a highly motivated entry-level Electrical Engineer to join the Computing Products Department within the Displays, Controls, Computing & Networking Engineering (DCCN) directorate. This department develops and sustains state-of-the-art avionics hardware products, including ruggedized mission computers, video processing modules, and network products for commercial and military aircraft. This role is onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and supports all phases of the hardware development lifecycle: program pursuit, design, integration, verification, and factory transition. The selected candidate will contribute to the development of computing modules and air vehicle computers, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Systems, Software, Mechanical, Environmental Effects, Manufacturing/Operations, and Design-to-Cost teams to ensure product requirements are met. Competence in high-speed digital circuit board design, testability, and thermal management is essential.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
- Understanding of engineering digital circuit design concepts.
- Familiarity with the development and design of electronic circuit, and/or multi-assembly system/unit design.
- Desire to perform hands-on troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Nice To Haves
- Capable of effectively collaborating with team members and independently managing assigned tasks.
- Familiarity with taking design concepts from block diagrams or requirements to developing complete hardware designs, including verification through testing and integration.
- Experience with design tools (schematic capture) and PCB design process to analyze and simulate designs prior to hardware implementation.
- Experience using PCB electronic circuit design software: signal integrity, power integrity and analog simulation.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design, analyze, simulate, and test Circuit Card Assemblies for Avionics Computers (Processors, FPGAs, Memory, high-speed interfaces).
- Operate lab equipment to perform integration testing on hardware designs.
- Work on schematic capture of digital/analog mixed signal electrical circuit designs.
