Digital & Fundraising Storyteller
About The Position
At the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, every animal has a story. Some stories begin with hardship. Others begin with hope. Many end with a family finding their new best friend. Along the way, there are countless moments worth sharing, moments that inspire adoptions, encourage donations, recruit volunteers, and connect our community to the work we do every day. We're looking for a talented Storyteller & Content Editor to help bring those stories to life. This is a role for someone who loves writing, notices the details others miss, and understands how a great story can make people stop scrolling, open an email, make a donation, or fall in love with an adoptable pet. You'll spend your days gathering stories from across the organization, interviewing staff, photographing animals, capturing video, writing content, editing copy, and helping ensure the ARL's voice remains authentic and engaging across every platform. If you're equally excited by a well-written newsletter article, a compelling social media post, and a photo that perfectly captures an animal's personality, this could be the role for you.
Requirements
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Ability to adapt voice for different audiences while maintaining accuracy, clarity, and consistency
- Enjoy talking with people, asking questions, and uncovering the moments that make a story worth sharing
- Comfortable collaborating with staff across departments
- Ability to take information from multiple sources and turn it into engaging content
- At least two years of professional writing and editing experience
- Creative, curious, organized, and able to manage multiple projects without losing sight of the details
Nice To Haves
- Some experience with photography, videography, or digital content creation
