About The Position

This position requires mechanical knowledge and aptitude. The operator will be proficient in operating a slitter/rewinder and digital finisher, as well as inspecting the finished product. Responsibilities include ensuring the overall quality of the final printed product, packaging, and shipping, maintaining the condition of equipment and the work area, and assisting press operators with set-up and clean-up as needed.

Requirements

Mechanical knowledge / aptitude is required.
Ability to read and write English.
Knowledge of computers.

Nice To Haves

Preferred 2-3 years of rewinding experience on narrow rewinders or equivalent but not mandatory.
Trade school, high school or GED required.

Responsibilities

Responsible for job setup, including reviewing job tickets, ensuring materials and information are available, setting up the job per instructions, changing blades, and setting up, operating, and adjusting the rewinder.
Responsible for the production of the job, including inspecting and ensuring the quality of print and die-cut (color, register, die strike, imperfections), packaging product per client instructions, and maintaining an inventory of packing materials.
Assist in shipping and receiving of product, including wrapping product for shipping, preparing bill of ladings, performing rate quotes, and receiving product and confirming quantities.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise.
Maintain an awareness of schedule, achieving the best possible production speeds.
Accurately record production of finished product.
Communicate maintenance needs, supply and safety issues to management.
Complete end-of-shift/job reports, as required.
Perform maintenance as needed and perform scheduled preventative maintenance, as required.
Comply with company rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
Implement a commitment to quality philosophy and recommend methods and procedures to reduce cost and/or improve quality and operating efficiency.
Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.
Perform other related duties, as required, to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and company.
