About The Position

The NC Museum of Natural Sciences is looking for a dynamic Digital Experience Manager to join our Communications and Marketing team! The Digital Experience Manager serves as the strategic owner and lead administrator of the Museum's web platforms, with primary responsibility for the architecture, governance, and ongoing evolution of its Drupal Content Management System (CMS). The role leads the end-to-end rebuild and continuous improvement of the Museum's website, ensuring a user-centered, accessible, and scalable digital experience aligned with institutional goals and State of North Carolina requirements. This role requires both strategic and technical fluency, combining user experience best practices, content strategy, and platform expertise to deliver a high-performing, sustainable digital ecosystem for the Museum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in web development/design, digital design, computer programming, or related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; OR Associate degree in web development/design, digital design, computer programming AND one year of experience related to the design and development of websites; OR High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND four years of experience in the field of technology related to the position's role; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience managing and administering Drupal CMS in an enterprise or institutional environment
  • Experience leading or supporting website redesigns, migrations, or large-scale digital projects
  • Proven ability to manage projects, vendors, and timelines with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of WCAG 2.1AA accessibility standards and digital compliance requirements
  • Experience analyzing and applying web analytics (e.g., GA4, Tag Manager) to inform decision-making

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary owner and administrator of the Museum's Drupal CMS, including content structure, workflows, and permissions (design, build, and maintain web pages)
  • Acts as project manager for website redesign and enhancement initiatives, coordinating timelines, deliverables, and priorities
  • Leads the Museum's compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and State of North Carolina digital accessibility requirements
  • Collaborates with Communications & Marketing and other sections to ensure web content supports institutional priorities and campaigns
  • Ensures consistent application of user experience (UX) principles, information architecture, and navigation standards
  • Evaluates and prioritizes web requests, applying best practices to ensure effective and efficient use of the website
