Digital Designer, Brand & Site

Faherty BrandNew York, NY
$115,000 - $120,000

About The Position

The Digital Designer, Brand & Site owns the ongoing visual design of faherty.com and extends that work outward across the brand’s digital channels. The site is the primary canvas — homepage, landing pages, PLP and PDP modules, navigation, and seasonal takeovers — designed and shipped on a continuous cadence. This is a graphic design-led role. Typography, layout, composition, and color are the core craft, applied to a commerce experience that has to convert as well as it looks. The designer takes seasonal art direction from Brand Creative, builds the site experiences that carry it, and then adapts that expression into email, social, and content. Working alongside Site Ops and Frontend Development, this role balances user needs, business objectives, and the aesthetic standards that define Faherty.

Requirements

  • Graphic design craft. A discerning eye for typography, layout, composition, color, iconography, and editorial design.
  • E-commerce design experience. Proven work designing and shipping retail or DTC site experiences, with an understanding of merchandising logic and conversion.
  • UI/UX fluency. Comfortable moving between user flows, information architecture, and wireframing to high-fidelity interface design, interaction detail, and motion considerations. Familiar with how research and testing inform design decisions.
  • Design systems. Able to work inside an established system and extend it — building components and patterns that hold up as the system scales, rather than one-off screens.
  • Hands-on Shopify. Comfortable working directly in the theme editor to independently ship design and merchandising updates.
  • Figma. Advanced proficiency, including component libraries, variants, auto layout, and prototyping.
  • AI proficiency. Hands-on fluency with AI tools in a production design workflow — image generation and editing, asset variation, retouching, and rapid iteration — with the craft judgment to know when output meets brand standards and when it needs to be reworked by hand.
  • Creative partnership. Demonstrated ability to work hand in hand with Creative Directors, Art Directors, and Brand teams to translate creative vision into digital execution.
  • Business acumen balanced with creative integrity. Ability to weigh user needs, business objectives, and brand vision — focusing on measurable outcomes while protecting the craft and storytelling that build long-term brand equity.
  • Adaptability and organization. Able to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Motion and video. Functional knowledge of video editing, with the ability to brief, source, and adapt motion assets across placements from homepage hero modules to PDPs and editorial features.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day design of the site experience — homepage, landing pages, PLP and PDP modules, navigation, and promotional placements — from layout through pixel-level detail.
  • Design new features and page templates end to end, producing the artifacts the work requires: user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, interaction detail, and prototypes.
  • Translate seasonal campaign creative into site placements, holding the integrity of the art direction while solving for hierarchy, merchandising priorities, and conversion.
  • Design within the design system and brand guidelines, contributing components and patterns as the system grows.
  • Design responsively and mobile-first, with practical command of how layouts and type systems behave across breakpoints.
  • Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards.
  • Balance craft and storytelling against KPIs and user success metrics.
  • Design routine and seasonal updates to the Faherty app — merchandising modules, promotional placements, campaign takeovers, and evergreen content — on a continuous cadence alongside the site.
  • Carry campaign expression into the app so site and app read as one brand, adapting layouts and type systems to native patterns and screen constraints.
  • Partner with the app development team on UiUX, specs, asset handoff, and QA, validating implementation against design intent.
  • Ship design updates directly in Shopify — theme sections, modules, and content blocks — enabling merchandising changes and lightweight optimizations without engineering dependency, while protecting the integrity of the brand’s design language.
  • Partner with Frontend Development, QA, and site partners through the build cycle: confirm technical feasibility, validate implementation against design intent, surface issues, and iterate on live features post-launch.
  • Compress and optimize assets for front-end performance and site speed without sacrificing visual quality.
  • Measure and optimize site design against KPIs — conversion rate, engagement, task completion — while upholding the visual and emotional quality that defines the Faherty experience.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative research, usability testing, and performance data alongside creative judgment and brand instinct to inform and validate design decisions.
  • Partner on testing roadmaps with Site Ops and Integrated Marketing, designing variants and reading results back into the work.
  • Adapt seasonal campaign expression across site and content channels, applying the typographic and compositional language established by Art Director.
  • Work under the direction of the Creative team — Brand Creative, Art Direction, Photography, and Copy — translating approved campaign direction into digital touchpoints that hold the brand’s voice and emotional resonance.
  • Produce and extend the supporting graphic elements that carry a season across the calendar — typographic lockups, promotional badging, iconography, and layout templates — building from established campaign art direction.
  • Stay current on design tools and technique, as well as broader currents in fashion, art, and culture, to execute the work at a competitive craft level.
  • Work across Site Ops, Integrated Marketing, CRM, Retention, Merch, and external agencies to deliver seamless, consistent experiences across channels.
  • Design cohesively across web, app, and in-store so the brand reads as one thing.
