About The Position

State Street is seeking a Digital Asset Operations Senior Associate for its Global Delivery Digital Asset Operations team. This role requires an understanding of both traditional and digital asset operations, ideally with experience in large institutional settings. The team is responsible for designing and executing the operational model for State Street’s sub-custody and self-custody services within Global Delivery, aligning with the enterprise strategy. This is a significant opportunity to contribute to building the future digital infrastructure of financial markets. The Senior Associate will report to the Assistant Vice President of Digital Asset Operations and will collaborate with internal teams such as Product Development, IT, Business, Governance & Controls, Risk, and Compliance, as well as State Street Global Delivery teams. Significant collaboration with external partners and vendors is also expected, from product development through testing and implementation. This role demands an interest and working knowledge of traditional investment services business operations (e.g., custody, payments, trading, securities servicing, client onboarding, compliance, process documentation) and a curiosity for emerging technologies like DLT, Blockchain, digital custody, cryptocurrencies, digital wallet technology, tokenization, and AI.

Requirements

  • Understanding of ideally both traditional and digital assets operations coupled with large institutional experience
  • Interest and some working knowledge of traditional investment services business operations – in one of the following areas such as custody, payments, trading, securities servicing, client onboarding, compliance and process documentation
  • Curiosity for next generation technologies, including distributed ledger technology - DLT, Blockchain, digital custody, cryptocurrencies, digital wallet technology, tokenization and Artificial Intelligence – AI
  • Creative problem-solving and analysis skills to help build solutions
  • Constructively challenge the status quo; collaborate with State Street Product teams, Compliance and State Street Global Delivery SMEs as “one team” to help accelerate product development and delivery cycles
  • Ability to implement innovative products in a start-up like culture (preferably within large, complex organizations)
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative when needed
  • Work effectively with peers across globally distributed teams to achieve common goals
  • Ability to contribute to multiple projects implementation concurrently and prioritize work accordingly
  • Process execution experience
  • Some experience in operations, business controls, BUAT or client service for traditional and/or digital products
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
  • Ability to excel when faced with the unknown and challenged to develop new ways
  • Excellent communication and escalation ability
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and external stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with digital assets and wallets, distributed ledger technology, tokenization is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Identify control process improvements relevant to the role by challenging the design and implementation of related self-custody processes, procedures and other documentation required for smooth operations
  • Execute our Digital in-scope functions in this new cross-functional Digital team employing a risk and controls mindset
  • Understand and execute operational procedures specific to Digital Asset Operations
  • Build functional and technical knowledge across traditional and digital custody and sub-custody
  • Ensure KPIs are achieved and deliver seamless day-to-day delivery of services with periodic reviews
  • Provide regular communication and reporting updates to ensure full transparency and clarity of workstream delivery to digital asset operations leadership teams
