Digital Asset Management Specialist

Slate Automotive•Troy, MI

About The Position

Slate is seeking a Digital Asset Management Specialist to own and evolve its brand asset ecosystem across photography, video, motion graphics, documents, and print and digital design files. The specialist will administer the DAM platform, making assets organized, tagged, discoverable, and correctly distributed to internal teams, agencies, and external partners. The role will also advance the system through PIM integration, AI-powered tagging, and automated workflows. The role encompasses asset operations and governance; metadata, taxonomy, and AI tagging; print and digital design workflows; and workflow configuration and collaboration. It includes managing asset ingestion, licensing and usage rights, metadata standards, integrations, templates, approvals, training, reporting, and coordination with IT and legal on governance, security, and retention. Slate describes its mission as building safe, reliable, affordable vehicles in the USA and fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, mutual respect, and shared principles.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in digital asset management, media operations, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience administering a DAM platform.
  • Strong understanding of metadata structures, custom fields, and taxonomy design at scale, including bulk or CSV-based metadata management.
  • Familiarity with photo and video production formats such as RAW, ProRes, PSD, and layered files, as well as print production files and digital design assets such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with PIM platforms and connecting product data to asset libraries.
  • Exposure to AI-driven or automated tagging and metadata generation, including how machine-generated tags integrate with human-curated taxonomies.
  • Familiarity with facial recognition or people tagging in a DAM/MAM context and with related privacy and compliance considerations.
  • Comfort managing multilingual asset metadata and bulk translation workflows.
  • Experience working within a production tracker or project management tool.

Nice To Haves

  • Brandfolder experience is strongly preferred; experience with Bynder, Widen, or Adobe AEM is also considered.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud integrations such as CI Hub or similar.
  • Experience building or scaling a DAM system from the ground up.
  • Background in media production or packaging design workflows.
  • Experience with computer vision or AI asset-recognition platforms such as Imagga, Clarifai, Google Vision, or Veritone.
  • Familiarity with 360° product viewer setups.
  • Automotive, commercial photography, or brand/marketing environment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the DAM platform, including folder architecture, taxonomy, metadata schemas, custom fields, user permissions, and SSO/SAML configuration.
  • Own asset ingestion workflows for photography, video, motion, documents, print collateral, and digital design files from shoots, design teams, and other company stakeholders.
  • Maintain version history and check-in/check-out practices; audit the library for duplicates and resolve redundant uploads.
  • Manage asset licensing, usage rights, model and talent releases, and expiration dates, flagging renewals or takedowns as needed.
  • Develop and enforce naming conventions, tagging standards, and scalable custom-field taxonomy across departments.
  • Configure bulk metadata conversions that generate tags and custom fields from embedded file metadata.
  • Lead DAM and PIM integration to keep product data, specifications, and approved imagery synchronized across channels.
  • Evaluate and manage facial and people-recognition tagging for talent tracking, rights enforcement, and searchability.
  • Manage multilingual asset details and bulk translations for asset names, descriptions, tags, and custom fields.
  • Manage print and digital templating through the DAM template editor, PrintUI, and InDesign ingest so non-designers can generate materials from locked templates.
  • Maintain the CI Hub integration with Adobe Creative Cloud, supporting bidirectional asset sync for Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator users.
  • Support print production files, including print-ready PDFs, die lines, and CMYK profiles, as well as standard photo and video formats.
  • Configure DAM workflows and approval chains and connect them to the project management tracker so approval status is visible end to end.
  • Use proofing for creative review and approval cycles.
  • Train internal teams, agency partners, and new hires on DAM best practices, search and retrieval, and tagging standards.
  • Report on asset usage, library health, tagging accuracy, and adoption metrics for leadership.
  • Collaborate with IT and legal on data governance, access security, and retention policies.
