The clinical dietitian is a registered dietitian responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating patient progress toward nutrition goals. This position educates patients individually and in group settings on behaviors and lifestyle changes that impact long-term eating habits, diabetes, self-management and overall health. The dietitian will provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to assist with including but not limited to, prediabetes, type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes and weight management. Recommends changes in therapy and monitors patient’s responses to changes in medication regime, exercise plan or meal plan and reports to physician. Collaborates with other staff to provide education and self-management training in a clinically appropriate manner, as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
