Meals on Wheels People is seeking a Dietitian who is responsible for working with clients to create customized meal plans that meet their individual needs, developing nutrition education materials and programs, and partnering with the culinary team to provide clients with a delicious, diverse, and healthy menu. This is a part-time, contract-based position that will run through September 2027.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a related field required; MS or MPH preferred.
  • Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential and licensure/eligibility to practice in Oregon and Washington.
  • Knowledge of geriatric nutrition and nutritional risk assessment for older adults.
  • 2-3 years of professional dietetics experience, including demonstrated success in menu planning and nutrition program development.
  • Experience developing nutrition education tools and programs focused on health promotion, disease prevention, and disease management.
  • Proficiency with nutrition analysis software, Microsoft Office Suite, client management systems, and other web-based applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and engage diverse populations.
  • Passion for serving older adults and supporting the health and well-being of seniors in the community.
  • Successfully passing a fluency exam in another language qualifies candidates an extra $1 per hour pay rate.
  • Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Nutrition Care Process to assess Medically Tailored Meal (MTM) clients and provide medical nutrition therapy to MTM contract clients.
  • Develop and deliver nutrition education and training materials for home-delivered meal clients and provide in-person presentations at senior centers and other community locations.
  • Develop and provide nutrition education that addresses the unique nutritional needs of older adults, including specialized materials for MTM clients.
  • Support grant-funded projects and track, manage, and report outcome data related to these initiatives.
  • Stay current on Food is Medicine research and incorporate relevant findings into presentations, educational materials, and program content.
  • Develop culturally responsive menus that comply with contract requirements.
  • Conduct nutritional analysis of menus for all nutrition program meals to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Provide guidance on emerging nutrition trends and innovative solutions to meet the nutritional needs of clients.
  • Ensure the accuracy of menus and nutrition analysis data within designated databases.
  • Provide guidance and support to program locations regarding food products, preparation methods, and presentation techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
