Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Nutrition or related field.
  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Internship or approved training program.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota as a Licensed Dietitian (Clinic - must meet requirements for licensure within 3 months of hire; Hospitals - must meet requirements within 6 months of hire).
  • Previous clinical dietetics experience.
  • Commission on Dietetic Registration credential (Clinic - must be registered within 3 months of hire; Hospitals - must be registered within 6 months of hire).

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in nutrition or related field and/or additional nutrition-related specialty certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized medical nutrition therapy to ambulatory and hospitalized patients as part of a multidisciplinary team in a tertiary care center.
  • Applies medical nutrition therapy standards of care to incorporate the nutrition care process: nutrition assessment/re-assessment, nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention (food and/or nutrient delivery, nutrition education, nutrition counseling and coordination of nutrition care) and nutrition monitoring/evaluation.
  • Provides advanced/specialized nutrition care for high acuity/medically complex patients.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues throughout the enterprise to develop MNT practice guidelines and/or protocols, curriculum and nutrition education materials.
  • Precepts dietetic interns; mentors and trains new staff (clinic and hospitals).
  • Collaborates with dietetic technicians and administrative support staff.
  • Works collaboratively with providers and other allied health care staff to develop and deliver programs and services that promote both therapeutic and wellness initiatives.
  • Researches best practice to ensure effective interventions and measures outcomes of interventions.
  • Demonstrates effective public speaking/presentation skills.
