About The Position

Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is looking for a Supplemental Medical Assistant to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center team. The Medical Assistant will perform all general MA duties (room patients, record vital signs, enter/update medications, verify allergies and list reaction, etc.). Our Medical Assistants work alongside our Providers and RN's to assist with procedures and keep accurate records in EHR.

Requirements

Medical Assistant Registration required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Nice To Haves

Medical Assistant Certification preferred

Responsibilities

Perform all general MA duties (room patients, record vital signs, enter/update medications, verify allergies and list reaction, etc.)
Work alongside Providers and RN's to assist with procedures and keep accurate records in EHR.
Educate pre/post-operative patients per Provider's instructions.
Draw and prepare injections, label as indicated and record in EHR.
Assist all Providers with procedures such as casting/splints and removal of sutures/staples.
Open and prep exam rooms, stock as indicated.
Clean exam rooms and autoclave instruments between patients.
Complete medical history and update surgical information accurately on all post-operative patients.
Prep charts the day before or morning of surgery, including gathering ER notes, op-notes, office notes from other providers, review present chart to assess types of documents needed for the day, what x-rays are indicated, and read the provider’s previous notes for directions.
Perform sterile dressing changes.
Refill medications per provider protocols.
Direct questions to the specific provider.
Order tests – X-rays, CT, US, MRI, lab draws per provider’s request.
