About The Position

The Dietary position is located in DeSoto, Missouri. The schedule is a 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. day shift, working every other weekend, holidays, and two days during the week. The employee participates as needed in preparing and serving appetizing, nourishing, well-balanced meals that meet residents’ daily nutritional and special dietary needs. The role also assists with dishwashing and cleaning tasks.

Requirements

Basic understanding of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Understanding of person-centered care.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Working knowledge of and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in an institutional food service setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Handle and store food according to facility procedures and safe food-handling guidelines.
Assist with food preparation as assigned by the supervisor.
Prepare food items using standardized recipes and safe food-handling practices.
Use food supplies and equipment efficiently and economically to prevent waste.
Operate institutional food-preparation and cleaning equipment, including the dish machine, according to manufacturer and supervisory directions.
Follow proper cleaning and preventative maintenance schedules.
Assist with setting up the food tray line or buffet dining.
Assemble meals and trays for residents according to facility procedures.
Assist with dishwashing and other cleaning tasks.
