About The Position

Tice Valley Post Acute is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented Dietary Cook to join our Dietary Services team on a part-time and full-time basis. The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals for our residents while following established menus, dietary requirements, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, works well with others, and understands the importance of providing quality meals in a healthcare setting.

Requirements

Previous cooking experience preferred, preferably in a healthcare, senior living, restaurant, or institutional setting.
Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices.
Ability to follow recipes, menus, and special dietary instructions.
Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and organization.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety.
Must be able to communicate effectively with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
Follow therapeutic and special diet instructions as directed.
Ensure meals are prepared accurately, attractively, and on schedule.
Maintain proper portion sizes and food quality standards.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper food storage and handling.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area.
Assist with meal service and ensure residents receive meals according to their dietary needs.
Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products.
Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate food quality.
Communicate effectively with dietary and nursing staff regarding resident meal needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
