About The Position

Sterling Village is hiring a full-time Dietary Aide/Cook to assist in the kitchen before, during, and after meal service for residents. This role involves maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment, ensuring equipment and utensils are clean, and assisting with food preparation and service. The position requires adherence to sanitation and infection control regulations, as well as resident rights and safety procedures. The Dietary Aide/Cook will also be responsible for preparing food items according to standardized recipes, managing food production, and ensuring quality standards are met. This role may also involve assisting with training new kitchen employees and maintaining proper documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience as cook preparing full line of menu items.
  • Able to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to prepare therapeutic/modified diets.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer services and enjoy serving elders.

Responsibilities

  • Washes dishes, tableware, glasses, and other kitchen and dining room equipment and assures they are stored in an orderly fashion.
  • Assures work is performed in accordance with all federal, state, and facility regulations regarding sanitation and infection control.
  • May be required to prepare and service coffee, tea, juice etc.
  • May be required to wash all pots, pans, and cooking utensils used to prepare a meal.
  • Required to assist in cleaning work areas, dining room floor, dining room tables, and dining room chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events, sweep and mop floor at the end of shift.
  • May be responsible for between meal nourishment.
  • May serve meals to residents in dining area. May assist with the pouring of the beverages at each meal.
  • Required to assist in the cleaning of the kitchen equipment, food storage area, and supply areas according to the facility schedule.
  • Required to remove garbage from the kitchen and to clean trash containers.
  • Required to perform duties in a swift and orderly fashion in order to accomplish tasks in allotted time.
  • Assures personal compliance to all state and federal regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials, and fire safety.
  • Assures personal compliance to resident's rights.
  • Follows safely procedures as stated in dietary services manual.
  • Complies with schedule as established by Dietary Manager.
  • Responsible for food preparation that meets or exceeds hospitality and service standards of this community.
  • Prepares all foods to meet quantity and deadline requirements.
  • Able to effectively manage all food production in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
  • Prepares food items using standardized recipes.
  • Determines food and supplies needed and coordinate meal production with serving hours.
  • Prepares all special dietary needs as directed by the Resident Menus.
  • Monitors all food items to see that at least the minimum guidelines for temperature, taste, and quality are upheld at all times.
  • Maintains or exceeds standards of appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new kitchen employees.
  • Practices all safety and loss prevention procedures.
  • Attends all in-services as required.
  • Responsible for following all local, state, and federal policies regarding food handling.
  • Assists with proper documentation of temperature logs, taste panel forms, and cleaning schedules.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
