About The Position

The Dietary Clerk supports patient nutrition care by maintaining accurate menus, managing supplies, entering data, and responding to patient and clinical staff inquiries. The role applies knowledge of regular and therapeutic diets and communicates dietary consults, referrals, and other critical information to the Nutrition Services Team to support coordinated care. This is a PRN day-shift position based in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to apply therapeutic diet parameters.
• Ability to explain nutrition-related queries and understand related terminology.
• Ability to use common software applications and hardware, such as an iPad or Toughbook.
• Ability to complete multiple detail-oriented tasks and responsibilities in a time-sensitive environment.
• Ability to read, write, and speak conversational English and understand food service terms.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of customer service experience.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Associate degree preferred; field of study may be management, liberal arts, food and nutrition, business, or equivalent.
• Previous call center or diet office experience.
• Previous healthcare foodservice experience.
• Food Handler Certificate (FHC).

Responsibilities

• Update patient menus to reflect changes in diet orders, discharges, and transfers, maintaining accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain adequate stock of patient menus and office supplies.
• Perform accurate data entry and computer-based tasks.
• Take patient menu selections and resolve inquiries from patients, nurses, and physicians.
• Apply knowledge of regular and therapeutic diets to support accurate menu planning and patient nutrition care.
• Promptly communicate dietary consults, referrals, and other critical information to the Nutrition Services Team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
