About The Position

Performs all duties related to sanitation of kitchen, dining and prep and storage areas. The employee is primarily responsible for the maintenance of sanitary conditions in the general kitchen area including but not limited to walls, floors and work surfaces. The employee will also assure that all kitchen equipment, tools used for preparation and service are cleaned and sanitized according to policies and procedures and within compliance of regulations set forth by State, Federal and Accrediting Agencies. The employee also assists with service of meals to residents, including tray assembly, delivery and removal. The employee is primarily responsible for the accurate and efficient service of the children’s meals within compliance of their diet. The employee may also be required to perform or assist in other Health Care Dining Services activities to families, guests and other catered events. The employee must at all times adhere to policies and procedures and comply with regulations set forth by State, Federal and Accrediting Agencies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year foodservice experience in a health related facility
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
  • Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds.
  • Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a clean environment in the kitchen and related areas.
  • Maintains work surfaces, equipment and tools clean and sanitized.
  • Assists in meal assembly and delivery.
  • Prepares/mixes specialty formulas to resident according to recipes provided based on resident diet orders.
  • Maintains quality assurance logs such as temperature logs for the dish machine and sanitation logs for the pots and wares washing.
  • Clean office areas within the general kitchen area.
  • Collect soiled bottles and dishes from the unit pantries for washing.
  • Participate in the set up and assembly of the children’s meal trays.
  • Distribute meals and snacks to residents.
  • Communicate the preferences and requests expressed by the children and/or their families during meal service.
  • Maintains food and supplies in the pantries within par levels.
  • Keeps countertops and refrigerators in the assigned pantries clean and orderly.
  • Maintains clean dining surfaces in the units assigned.
  • Collects diet order change forms from the units.
  • Prepares and distributes custom formulas to the units.
  • Attends all training sessions and in-services as scheduled.
  • Reports hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
  • Performs all tasks as detailed in the assigned work schedule.
  • Checks and receives deliveries of food items in the absence of the supervisor or Storeroom Aide.
  • Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.
