About The Position

The Dietary Aide (also referred to as Server) courteously serves meals to residents and guests and cleans and resets the dining room after meal service. The role includes helping residents place menu orders, providing beverage service, assisting with tray service, and attending to residents’ special needs, including mobility deficits and memory impairment. The Dietary Aide also supports basic food preparation, proper food storage and labeling, and kitchen and dining-room cleaning. The position requires polite interactions with residents, guests, coworkers, and supervisors; compliance with resident-information confidentiality policies; and completion of assigned duties, required in-services, and staff meetings.

Requirements

• Wear a clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
• Be able to read and follow simple instructions.
• Be able to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
• Be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
• Be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision.
• Be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects.
• Be able to stand and walk for sustained periods of up to three hours at a time.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
• Be organized and willing to work well with other team members.
• Be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with placing orders from the menu.
• Provide beverage service, including water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee or tea.
• Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls before and after each meal.
• Report broken equipment or tableware to a supervisor.
• Use sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
• Perform basic food preparation, such as preparing salads and desserts.
• Follow proper food storage and labeling techniques.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.
• Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
• Complete other assigned duties.
• Attend to residents’ special needs, including mobility deficits and memory impairment.
• Assist with tray service.
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
• Interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Serve resident and guest meals and clean and reset the dining room following meal service.
